College degree on its way

I finally got an email from AIU Online yesterday that said my B.S. (I love saying that) and related documents had been shipped and should arrive on Monday. Don't tell Jennifer because I want it to be a surprise. DHL delivers on holidays right?

Speaking of that, what the heck do we still celebrate Columbus Day for anyway? Haven't we pretty much determined that there were lots of folks already here when Chris got lost and thought he had found a shortcut to the merchant lands? I'm no histogeocrapologist or anything but wasn't Columbus a moron who couldn't sail his way out of a bathtub?

And why is it always Monday's? Wouldn't Friday make more sense? I mean, we've been working all week and need a break. Why take a break on a Monday when we just had the freakin' weekend!? It's not like we can go get anything done either. Can't pay the phone bill because it's a holiday. You can't go get your car tag renewed IT'S A HOLIDAY!

Then, of course, all the people who still have to work that day are pissed. So when we do try to go get that haircut we've been needing or have the car washed we have to deal with angry, non-Monday holiday celebrating people who have to work when everyone else is off. Don't risk having your head shaved or your car antenna torn off. Do like me and skip out out on Friday. By the time Tuesday rolls around your boss won't remember anyway!
